Features of 310S stainless steel strip
Due to its austenitic structure at room temperature, 310S stainless steel cannot be hardened through heat treatment.
However, cold working can impart improved tensile strength and yield strength to the material. It is important to note that after cold working, annealing is necessary to stabilize the steel properties; otherwise, they may become unstable.
It is worth mentioning that alloy 310S stainless steel is specifically designed for high-temperature applications. If subjected to cold working, its resistance to creep (time-dependent deformation under high temperature) will, in fact, decrease instead of improving.
