Formula: m = W (m) × THK (mm) × L (m) × ρ (g/cm³)
W = Width, THK = Thickness, L = Length, ρ = Density
What is Grade 1 Titanium
Titanium grade 1 is “unalloyed” titanium with the best ductility and cold formability.
Titanium grade 1 also referred to as the UNS R50250 commercially pure titanium.
It has good mechanical properties and high corrosion resistance. Commercial CP grade pure titanium has high resistance to salt water and a variety of corrosive media (chlorine, nitric acid, etc.). Because titanium has a high chemical affinity, when it reacts with oxygen, it will form a stable and long-lasting protective oxide layer on the surface.
Grade 1 titanium stands out with its low specific gravity and excellent mechanical properties. Generally, it is most needed in application fields that have higher requirements for deformability.
Grade 1 titanium is widely used in plate heat exchangers or tube plates, and explosive coating of composite plates.
Grade 1 titanium is available in the form of pipe, round bar, forging, wire, plate, strip and foil section.

More Information About Grade 1 Titanium Strip
When you choose to buy Grade 1 titanium strip, there have some important points we need to know before we get started.
Features of Grade 1 Titanium Strip
1. Unmatched Ductility and Formability
As the softest titanium grade, Grade 1 possesses the highest ductility among CP titanium alloys. This exceptional cold formability allows the strip to be easily bent, stamped, or deep-drawn into intricate shapes without cracking. This feature is critical for the precision manufacturing of complex components like plate heat exchanger plates and diaphragms.
2. Superior Corrosion Resistance
Grade 1 titanium forms a stable, protective, and tenacious passive oxide film immediately upon exposure to oxygen. This provides the strip with phenomenal resistance to a wide array of aggressive media, including:Marine environments and seawater.Chlorides, hypochlorites, and chlorates.Wet chlorine gas.Oxidizing acids (e.g., nitric acid).
3. Precise Dimensional Tolerances
Our advanced rolling mills and slitting technology ensure that Seather’s Grade 1 Titanium Strip maintains rigorous dimensional uniformity. We achieve exceptionally tight tolerances on both thickness (gauge) and width, which is essential for automated high-speed stamping operations and consistent product quality in bulk manufacturing.
4. High Purity and Weldability
Grade 1 is characterized by its very low content of interstitial elements, particularly oxygen and iron. This high-purity composition not only contributes to its softness but also ensures excellent weldability. The material can be joined using common techniques like TIG (GTAW) or plasma welding, yielding strong, ductile welds with proper shielding.
5. High-Quality Surface Finish
Surface integrity is vital for strip products used in pressing or lining applications. Seather offers Grade 1 Titanium Strip with various smooth, defect-free finishes, including Bright Annealed (BA) or Pickled (Mill Finish), ensuring the material is free from inclusions, scale, or scratches that could compromise end-product performance.
6. Low Density and Biocompatibility
While possessing high specific strength (strength-to-weight ratio), Grade 1 has a low density (approx. 4.51 g/cm³), allowing for significant weight savings compared to steel. Furthermore, the material is entirely biocompatible, making our strip suitable for surgical implants, pacemaker casings, and medical device components.
