What is 309S Heat Resistnat Austenitic Stainless Steel?
Grade 309S heat resistnat austenitic stainless steel, also referred to as the UNS S30908/W.Nr. 1.4833 alloy.
309S stainless steel is a close variant of 309 (UNS S30900/W.Nr. 1.4828).
This heat resistant austenitic stainless steel offers excellent resistance to corrosion and oxidation. The lower carbon content minimizes carbide precipitation in the heat zone of the welds and thus avoid inter granular corrosion which can otherwise happen in the welds.
309S is non-magnetic after annealed and presents weak magnetism as cold worked.
Grade 309S stainless steel is available in all standard mill forms including pipe, rod, bar, plate, sheet, strip and foil products.
