About 317L Austenitic Stainless Steel
What is 317L Austenitic Stainless Steel?
Grade 317L austenitic stainless steel is a molybdenum containing, low carbon austenitic stainless steel with increased additions of chromium, nickel, and molybdenum for better corrosion resistance and increased resistance to chemical attack for sulfurous, acetic, formic, citric, and tartaric acids.
It is also referred to as the UNS S31726/W.Nr. 1.4438 stainless steel.
It has stronger resistance to chemical corrosion than conventional chromium-nickel austenitic stainless steels such as 304 alloy.
Grade 317L austenitic stainless steel features good seawater resistance and SCC resistance compared to 316L.
It is used in chemical equipment such as chemical ships and chemical products such as reactor.
Grade 317L stainless steel is available in all standard mill forms including pipe, rod, bar, plate, sheet, strip and foil products.
